For this wool and silk shawl, we chose the painting La Sieste by Paul Gauguin, painted in 1879. Paul Gauguin is one of the great French post-impressionist painters. His constant desire to push further, to discover new territories, reflects a constant need to perfect his artistic practice. His stays in Pont-Aven, Martinique, Tahiti, and the Marquesas Islands fed him and, in return, nourished his art. La Sieste is an iconic painting from his Tahitian cycle. The original grace and communal life of Tahitian women made a strong impression on Gauguin. The artist worked extensively on this canvas and made several changes. The skirt of the woman in the foreground was originally bright red, and a dog occupied the space now taken by the basket in the lower right corner.

Toile de Jouy: a reimagined theme
Do you know Toile de Jouy? This famous pattern, dating back to the 13th century, traditionally depicts scenes of pastoral life from that era. We had fun reinterpreting it... While maintaining a monochrome line-drawing style, we chose the subject of contemporary urban life. A coffee with friends, an art exhibition, a wild Saturday night have replaced the settings and characters of the past. A silk product cherished by both women and men.

The wool and silk blend: warmth and softness
The insulating properties of wool and silk make it a warm material suited for the winter season. Maison Malfroy combines it with silk to add softness and fluidity.

The wool and silk bandana: A small square for a big impact
The small Malfroy square is an accessory that lets your creativity run free. Its size allows it to be worn in many ways: tied around the neck, attached to your bag, styled as a headscarf—it adapts to all your desires.
